We built the family home on stage at Sunset Gower Studios. My contribution to that set was a huge photo album of my Uncle Franks House. Frank Hannon was another Irish Catholic who raised his family during that same late 50’s through the 60’s period of time that the show was set in. His house was in NJ not far from the Philadelphia setting of the show. Phil Toolin, the production designer, found a house in southeast LA to play as suburban 1960’s Philadelphia. We also built the American Bandstand set on stage. We built a large portion of back lot street that included the parent’s appliance shop and the Crocodile Record store.
